Miorelli Must Organize THE United Front

Ken Kerns Letter To The Alligator

Duque Makes The Alligator, But Not TheRadikal.com...

There needs to be dialogue with members of the Gator Party, perhaps even in the vein of approaching a viable Gator Party Senator (e.g. a Budget or Allocations Committee Chairman - or - perhaps even a key cabinet director) and recruiting that person to a Drayton-Ouster-Plan. The end result would not be to divide Gator to turn on Drayton to replace him with an O&B interim -- that's just not going to happen. We must concede that Gator won the majority in both branches of government, with the courts being impartial...

Still, the O&B Party could reap benefits; they could recruit the right person and give him/her a good amount of initial backing and support. Additionally, even with a Gator replacement to Drayton, the majority party will surely suffer at the polls in Fall and possibly well into Spring, however, Drayton can't go without members of his party voting him out and THAT will win incredible student-recognition.

Finding the right person, the guy the party may well have overlooked for Drayton and getting that person on a ballot in an emergency election could also pave the way for this overlooked, cast-aside rising star's presidential ambitions with the System Party. Interestingly, the System candidate for '09 could owe his stripes to the Opposition Party fielding his/her competition.

But more practically speaking, everyone would benefit here. Gator would retain power, O&B would gain leverage in selecting Drayton's replacement, and the students would have a chief fiscal officer. More importantly, just think what kind of internal revolution would play out within the ruling party and even as deep as Florida Blue Key, 2008 could see a whole different group of people, a faction per se, usurp another. It could start Gator and end Gator, yet the whole playing field could be revamped by one faction trading places with another.

At this point, the bar is set real low, all we need is body with a pulse in the Student Body Treasurer's office.

Right now, above & beyond strategy plays that might and probably will go wrong, the Minority should hold a caucus meeting with its party brass and scour the senate and/or cabinet for replacement options. There should only be 1-3 prospects. These student leaders should then be contacted by Miorelli as representing the Orange & Blue Party and an informal interview should be called, preferably at the private residence of a party member. At the interview, all O&B Senators should be present, in addition to the Party's Executive Committee, as well as a reporter from the Independent Florida Alligator - on condition that the paper only report once a prospective candidate is formally selected.

While this idea will surely get laughs from the Establishment, remember that laughter is almost more a knee-jerk reaction to nerves than to actual humor. Defeating an enemy 7:1 is money in the bank...but add just one of their own to the mix and then a couple of his/her friendly colleagues rush to his side and then two or three of the two or three that jumped ship start to feel a little uneasy about the majority taking potshots at the kids they got elected with and then others that know these start to get a bit offended and before you know it, Glenda is wishing she could go home, the Reitz Union staff is threatening to shut the power off in chambers, the blogs are lit up, the Alligator is re-updating by the hour, the students start to get word throughout the night, hours later SG is being mentioned in average-joe and plain-jane conversations on the Set, at the Plaza, at the Row, at La Casita, in the IBC, and all over the Reitz Union 3rd floor. Once the word is out, the Machine is forced to submit to the student will, it has never been able to damage-control it's way out of a mess like this could be.

Miorelli Must Organize the UNITED Front (Gator & O&B).

You are completely, 100% delusional.

Sorry, even I find that funny...Sam, united Gator and O&B???

Sorry Sam, I just had too.

Thats the stupidest idea ever.

I thought Jardon was supposed to do it? Why doesn't "Ben Cavatero #1 !!!" [sic] do it?

You greatly underestimate the apathy of the student body.

Christian this is not intended to be published as a comment. I'm writing this here to get you this anonymously.

Rumor within the Gator Party is that the IFC/PC blocs are willing to dump Drayton overboard because they don't want even the threat of an Access 2.0. They don't have the votes necessary in Senate though. They need 2/3rds of the Spring Senators and 3/4ths of the Fall Senators to kick Drayton out. The BSU bloc has enough power to prevent that. Unless Reilly et al buy off the blacks with some sort of deal, Drayton is staying.

One thing is for sure Mr Drayton sure cannot make a run for SBPresident any more

Miorelli ain't in charge. I'm pretty sure everybody realizes it by now.

Frank,

What's funny is that you overlook the fact that Sam would effectively be selling an ounce for gold for $8.00 as opposed to the market value of $800.

Many of you call into question Sam's rapport with the parties in senate, but what you fail to realize is that Paul was given a top spot to elect one the Whitest SBP in recent history at UF, I mean this guy isn't even Jewish, he's not Hispanic, unlike Patrone the guy doesn't even have a tan; I mean he's one shade shy of albino.

Now that aside, they needed two minorities and in doing so they shut the door on career politicians looking for that stepping-stone position...you know....the spot Moseley held, the spot Jamal held, the spot Kyle held....I mean are you all with me here?

SBT is THE stepping stone to SBP. The current SBT has killed his presidential future -- this is almost a moot point by now, but in addition that, he's also serving in a very lackluster capacity, that's continuing to take a toll on the Gator Party.

Sam approaching even his worst enemy, with Tommy in the wings and solid GDI backing as just a tip of the iceberg concession to a potential prospect to take Drayton out in a Fall '06 type election and what you have is a career System bureaucrat given a second chance on presidential aspirations and the possibility to do so without going the Jared Hernandez or Chris Carmody way (leaving the Mainstream Party).

Not sure where the humor in all this lies, maybe I'm just a dumbfuck - or maybe I know that Sam could pull this off in his sleep and I'm so confident about it, I've posted the fuckin plan on my blog for all to read :)

Hi Frank.

I demand evidence that Kevin Reilly is whiter than John Boyles.

Just because eric hates sam doesnt mean the indies do. lol, most of the indies hate eric.

I don't know Christian; I think you are stretching here a little bit. But I guess we will just have to see... If think you should come to Florida and visit Senate sometime soon .

Sam's been doing a good job thusfar (he has definitely been holding his tongue more than he would have if he wasn't party leader...keep that in mine other Senators out there) but for 2/3rd of Gator Party to side with O&B at this exact point in time would be pushing it even if Eric was party leader.

Wacco, don't make me come get you, I know who you are after the IHOP convo.

the power structure of the indy party is known only to the few that sit a top it and nobody has ever goten close to mapping it out and never will

watching everybodey tilt at it is enddlessley amusing though

Anyone who has dealt with Sam for literally 30 seconds knows he isn't capable of anything close to what you call for Duque.

Anonymous said...

Why does Cain meet with people instead of Sam? Because Sam is an ineffective slut who only cares about creating a "legend" for the Alligator.

Christian Duque said...

I sense there's a lot of animosity amongst GDI's and just who's the 'leader of the pack.' Let me stress that every independent is a leader in his own right, please don't succumb to infighting. The common goal should be to oust Drayton and call for special elections.

Don't lose sight of your goals.

Anonymous said...

No. No one cares who is the leader except for Sam. We just get tired of sam's ego. The quicker Cain, Mark, Huey or Ben takes over the better. They'd lead w/o this title bullshit.

Anon: 2:03AM, pretty sure you aren't registered O&B...but then again, neither am I.

I am going to reveal how the indie power structure works...pay attention carefully, you won't believe it (Christian this should be a front page post too for the weekend!).

Alright so there is this big abandoned warehouse in East Gainesville that all the indies gather in around 2:00AM, it is almost like fight club. The first rule of indie fight club...don't talk about indie fight club. I have already broken this rule so you may not see me for the next week once this gets out.

Orginally, Ben won fight club (we think he drugged everyone in advance), but we couldn't have that. Us Italians formed a bloc in fight club and used our connections to have a progressive group in DC "make Ben an offer he couldn't refuse". With Ben out of the picture, Tommy tried to move in but we quickly stopped that with some help of what is left of the Chicago mob. Kyle was no problem...he became mentally distrubed when he realized a former math junkie like Glover could become a member of Bernie's Secret Service. Eric, he was a little thougher to get rid of, but us Italians formed a tag team in fight club and used folding chair to knock Eric out. And thus, that is how the Sam came to power.

I have now revealed the indie power structure, God help us all!

It seems like Sam is about as popular as Wolf with the indies. Looks like Civil War is looming...

Rumor on the 3rd floor has Miorelli teaming up with Gator Party Senators Patel, D Oyley and Ramsey to put together a coalition to take down Drayton. This brings the GDIs, Asians, Gator Non-Greeks, and white Greeks together to take him out. We'll see if what Reilly, Hoffstetter and Dale can do to prevent this, if they already havent sanctioned it themselves. BSU INC. better rally if they want their SBP candidate to emerge intact

Anonymous said...

2:03 apparently you care who the leader is?

Anonymous said...

Paul is politically dead and can't run for president next year. That is a fact. Sam and company can not round up the votes to impeach Paul. If it is going to happen it will be with OXbloc wanting it to happen...and they don't. Come on, this ends up looking bad for the blacks and white greeks save face.

Count it

First off Christian...its not really people's futures so much as its their present. Being involved in SG has nice perks...but to say that it sets you up for the future is laughable. As for your suggestion of appointing Rene as interim treasurer...thats essentially what has been done. Why does it matter what its called.

No house is going to jump ship and endorse the indie campaign. You may see 1 or 2 houses who have kids slate with the other party and don't support Gator/Swamp/Greek...but really, is Delta Chi or Sigma Pi a real house anyway?

Christian Duque said...

Expect at least two Greek houses to go to the GDI's in F-A-L-L, virtually unheard of in a non-Exec race.

I'm willing to take action on the two houses, as early as late July. I just hope Gator realizes the harm it's doing itself.

If only they'd appoint Rene to Interim SB Treasurer for the Summer and then allow Paul to resume his post in Fall/Spring, I think we could have a feasible, sensible outcome.

But holding out based exclusively on partisan pride is going to cost it for A-LOT of the party's on-campus and District D incumbent senators looking for re-election in just short few months.

But oh well...being hardcore is so much easier when you're playing with other peoples' futures.

Anonymous said...

Wow... the stuff said on here is incredulous at times.

There is absolutely 0 chance that a house would ditch in a Fall election (unless its Fiji and ChiPhi - don't make me laugh, it's not like Gator wins Hume anyways). They would be forced to sit on the sidelines like ATO was for so long for absolutely NOTHING.

Winning seats in District D is laughable at best. In your day it was possible, put Gator wins District D by ~100+ votes now (Wondery why - oh yeah AEPi lives in District D now).

D'oyley ditching the system is one of the absolute funniest things I've EVER read on here.

Christian Duque said...

1). If "that is what's been done," then Drayton is not living up to his duties and he's unfit to serve .

2). If "that is what's been done," then Rene should be treated with enough respect to hold the title for all the responsibility on the line.

3). But most importantly if "that is what's being done," then absolutely you want to make sure the situation is corrected b/c public service, GOVERNMENT is all about what it looks to be.

There is a great deal of PRINCIPLE invovled in PUBLIC SERVICE -- I shouldn't have to be posting such basic ETHICS on a blog that caters to the very best student leaders at the flagship university of Florida.

Anonymous said...

Christian,
Since when have you had ethics?

Anonymous said...

Hearing stories that Sam printed out Articles of Impeachment in the SG Computer Lab earlier this afternoon! Sounds like a Declaration of War for Summer B...

Christian Duque said...

I have enough ethics to know when to put partisan wrangling to rest and work for the students -- I did this when I was in senate.

I, as well as most of the GDI's, can live with the fact that out of every ten races, the System will destroy us in 9, sometimes all 10, and we're willing to bear the brunt of working our asses off just to save our name and stand by our ideals. I can live with defeat, but if you're going to defeat us at the polls, at least have the decency to serve your duties from beginning to end, if not for your opponents, then hopefully for your constituents.

Anonymous said...

Please, Ramsey is the indie's posterchild for entitled incompetent Greek tools. He's the "horses say nay" guy. Miorelli and Ramsey working together is absurd.

Patel bucking the system is similarly absurd. D'Oyley doing it would be a bit more believable, but she normally toes the line when it matters. Plus she, like the rest of the Gator Party, HATES Miorelli. She might be willing to work with some of the others.

This blog makes people dumb.

Anonymous said...

The fact that Sam printed the Articles of Impeachment in the SG Computer Lab is evidence enough of how public he wants the impeachment to be. Its funny how he could have probably printed them anywhere else but choose the SG Computer Lab. Maybe he did it so that people would "assume" he was bringing up impeachment charge "again." LOL!

Anonymous said...

lol...sam wouldn't be seen within a mile of the free printing lab...he's too rich for free
