Harvard Red & Old Gold
to blend with Orange & Blue?

While I was just recently way wrong about O&B, I don't think anyone can deny we've been seeing Phi Tau-related comments since the Drayton Scandal of summer past. While I'm not on the ground, my two remaining (credible) Greek sources insist that something will be happening from within the walls of a house long overlooked thanks to its larger, more connected neighbors ATO & Phi Delt.

Both insiders claim that the current Chomp the Vote director, unlike Robert Mack in 2005, could deliver his house - wherever he'd decide to go. Source #1 says Phi Tau is hungry and nearing a triple-digit active member roster -- a big accomplishment for a medium-sized house to be sure.

Source #2 says the house allegedly pulled away from a summer pact with SG-powerhouses Theta Chi & Sig Ep. This source claims Roth's house is exploring an early alignment with AEPi, as well 'entertaining continued proposals from the Independents.'

If anyone has anything to add, I would really appreciate it (esp. since neither one of my sources are in Phi Tau or on IFC-Exec., so I'm really mostly in the dark). I will say, that there is a bit of truth in my Bracco Q&A.

For some time now, people have been asking me why the Q&A won't come out and if "I've got something on Frank." That's simply nonsense. However, there is a question I fielded as to Roth's job performance - Bracco failed to reply and insisted he would not address the issue when I brought it up.

I will say, I found this a wee bit fishy, but I doubt that O&B is actually courting Roth, though I don't think it would be a complete setback for them to go into Spring with the backing of a house or two -- but at what cost?

Will you do a Q&A with JCB or another one of the retired Machine bosses?

So we can actually get some insight into greek politics?

No offense Duque - you're great when discussing the GDI's - but sometimes your take on FBK related politics is a bit out of touch. Understandably so.

The independents are not now, have never, nor will they ever court Phi Tau. The house is worthless and has failed in ever aspect of involvement from SG to IFC to FBK.

What a fucking joke.

no fraternity is making any deals.

did your sources also say that Chomp the Vote was nowhere to be found on campus this fall?

Duque this is total nonsense. There is not an ounce of truth in either of these claims.

I'm working on very limited contacts these days. I burned a lot of bridges with O&B, but I'm in no rush to mend them either. I recognized that I jumped the gun, but I'm still not 100% in the bag.

On the Phi Tau issue. My sources have been speaking to this house since I would say May/June, which prolly predates the whole Drayton fiasco - not sure right now.

And to those stating greek houses aren't making deals? C'mon. Who are you kidding? If the GDI's made deals, you expect anyone on this blog to believe GREEK HOUSES aren't making deals? With all due respect, uit smokin crack.

And to further reiterate I'm not supporting or refuting this rumor, just merely asking for comments.

And this other point: 'why would O&B want Phi Tau?' Ever heard the old saying, "beggars can't be choosers?"

I mean c'mon...Impact had Lambda Chi - since when was that a major mover & shaker? Access had pockets of support in PIKE & FIJI....again, no offense, but not exactly the gold standard of the large houses. Student Alliance, Voice (Kerns/ Argento) had no Greek houses.

Idk. I for one would literally vomit if O&B ran Roth as its SBP - nothing against him, but that would be the ultimate sell-out. And you also have to wonder....would a guy holding a house and potentially being able to turn pockets of support in other houses really want SBVP or SBT on an Indie ticket?

This is really like CTV nostalgia act. Roth & Hernandez have some interesting similarities. With the exception that by Jared's time he was no longer the favorite son of his house, whereas Roth is king in Phi Tau.

The idea that he's got Phi Tau's unconditional support is pretty accurate.

Anonymous said...

I second the JCB Q&A.

Wasnt he a contributor in the past?

Cant hurt to ask him.

Anonymous said...

Hernandez was IFC President, Roth is a joke.

Anonymous said...

O&B succeeds when they go for the jugulars of system tools... and Roth is a major tool.

The first member of O&B to suggest running Roth for anything on the Spring O&B ticket will be hung in the gallows.

Anonymous said...

Roth would take Phi Tau and several pockets of support in other houses.

Anonymous said...

Roth has been talking about an '09 run, but only to close friends. Whoever is feeding you Duque is a backstabber!

Anonymous said...

Isn't Phi Tau down to one Key now? I'm pretty sure Pedro Allende ran a full-on block against them because Aubuchon ran for a second term as FBK president and screwed over one of Allende's frat brothers.

Anonymous said...

FBK has rubbed Phi Tau the wrong way, paybacks a bitch!

Anonymous said...

Nothing quite says "SBP Material" like doing a terrible job as CTV Director and then bold faced lying about it to everyone.

And then having those bold faced lies about your success printed in expensive Alligator advertisements.

Renfroe & Roth were seen having lunch in downtown. When's the last time these two were seen anywhere?

Anonymous said...

People aren't allowed to eat anymore? Quit prying!

Anonymous said...

Aubuchon never ran for a second term for FBK President. The house fell apart after he left. There was a lack of leadership - and he was too busy running Joe Goldberg's campaign to do anything else.

Phi Tau hasn't done much since but they still have people in a few areas.

Naadira lost, she's the last person I'd court for the black vote.

Anonymous said...

Rumors are going around that O&B promised Josh Simmons a position on the exec slate in the spring and hes now making high level decisions within the party.

Anonymous said...

Does Naadira even know Roth? LOL!

Anonymous said...

If Naadira is kickin it with Roth, what could that possibly have to do with this stupid blog?

People's intimate lives shouldn't be put up here as spectacles. Shame on you Duque

Excuse me? I clearly asked for comments on an '09 SBP run. I don't care what people do, either.

If you recall, some years ago I allowed totally free commenting and went to comment-moderation to try and curb that excess a bit. However, I can't be expected to also play judge & jury and arbitrarily delete anything and everything that deviates from the norm.

The only reason the Gator Party split the ticket in Naadira's election was that HSA and the Latino-coalitions only voted their own into office forgetting to vote Gator Party for the entire slate.

BSU is still a strong supporter of the current system.

HSA on the other hand ruined the party structure and discipline under Luis Nobriga.

The "System" is reforming itself from the inside to "ensure domestic tranquility," and prevent the low houses from jumping ship.

ROFL, Josh Simmons on the O&B Exec slate? That man is perhaps has one of the highest LSAT scores in SG history. He is going to be leaving for some place like Yale, Harvard, or Georgetown, not sticking around playing politics at UF.

Bruce Haupt said...

I love campaigns, so if no one else, I'll run again! Why not right?

On a "for real" level, I'd love to be back and seriously campaign to win. So if anyone wants to pay me to be a surrogate, let me know. I got skillz. ;)

Anonymous said...

Anon 3:55 PM you are... delusional and I claim my five pounds.

Most of O&B couldn't pick Simmons out of a lineup.

And plus, his LSAT score is such that he's getting the hell out of Florida very very soon never to be heard from again.

THE MASSES DEMAND A JCB Q & A

Anonymous said...

Is Roth dating Naadira?

Anonymous said...

naadira ate roth at said meeting. CTV is now open

Anonymous said...

Roth is very well-endowed, I know so for a fact.

Anonymous said...

Josh Simmons did make the NYT this week. he brings national credibility to O+B, but I can't imagine him hanging around.

incidentally, my word verification note spells "hunni"

Of course when someone loses they have to blame it on someone else.

Its not easy to organize people and remind them to only vote for their own people.

A lot of times though people don't know they have to vote for 13 people on the ballot so they only vote for names that they recognize.

That's my two cent.

Anonymous said...

for roth to be equally endowed as naadira he would need to be in the 16 inch range

To all you requesting John Clay Brett interviews: Don't get your hopes up.

There is nothing in it for him, or any interest he represents, to become fodder for Duque's inevitable aggression towards him. He simply knows better and doesn't need the attention.

On the other hand, I'm sure one of the "make me feel important" house leaders still at UF would love to opine. Anything that gives them the impression that they aren't under the complete control of their party masters...

What on earth makes you think JCB has the time or inclination to do a Q&A?

And for that matter, what makes you think that Duque has the time? He doesn't even have the time to post Frank's, which is already done.

Anonymous said...

President Reilly has announced that CTV applications are open until November 14th. Get yours on the third floor on Monday.

Christian Duque said...

Time's kinda tight right now, but I will have Frank's Q&A up - I promise! I also have a long list of guests, including Shea Parrish, Tommy Jardon (Part II), the photographer behind the USAS rallies at PSU, as well as a new multi-faceted Q&A with Pedro Morales.

JCB had always wanted to do a Q&A and the feeling was mutual. Some things happened and we never met up as planned.

I don't know that the opportunity still exists, but I'd open to it possibly in late 2009 -- I'm not even kidding.

You must all realize the biggest Q&A to date (KEN KERNS) remains 75% completed + the giveaway contest and that's not going to see the light of day until maybe January!

I've also been trying to figure out a way to sit down and do a real Q&A with Chris Carmody - who I consider one of the most respected Indies from the System of all time -- right up there with Brian Aungst (another Indie/System leader I have a lot of respect for).

So yea. JCB would be great, but I have material all the way up to 2010 and keep in mind...I also want to blog and ... publish my own opinions, videos, and eventually an e-book on the Access campaign that I'm hoping to get assistance from Peter Gruskin and a few others on. Not to make any $, just to have it out there:)
