Who Is Jamel Langley?

A Q&A request has been sent & I truly hope to hear back. My instincts tell me this young man will go places in UF-SG.

NO REPLY -- SHOCKING!

A deal is being worked out to let Cavataro keep his seat. Gator is going to withdraw complaints, allow the EC to validate results and Senate will vote to certify them. Not sure what Gator gets out of the deal except a show of good faith by JJ which might go along way with Sam to keep things in chambers civil. Hopefully this puts Fall 2008 behind us and Goldberger can go back to Barack Obonga where he belongs.

Christian Duque said...

I hope you're wrong. Miorelli & O&B taking a pittance like that from Gator makes the 12 seat victory, the mobilization, and the entire "Orange & Blue Revolution" a fuckin SHAM!

Yeah....they get a senate seat in exchange for "keeping things civil in chambers." That's just PR for not doing shit, just staying quiet, and royally screwing the students that came out in record numbers.

Mr. Langley has potential to become one of SG's rising stars. Unfortunatly, he just lost his Senate seat and Gator's leadership is unlikely to find a new place for him. O&B needs to quickly reach out to him and the rest of the BSU's SG presence before Gator is able to strike a new deal that makes up for their recent loss in Senate seats.

wonder who could've wrote that...

Oh I know Jamel, he is a pretty nice guy.

Jamel Langley, of Tallahassee, FL is a sophomore majoring in public relations. He completed one term as a student senator, which also included him serving on the Allocations committee. He is also a member of the Black Student Union and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and is backed by the legendary Will Atkins, his fraternity brother.

Anon 12:32, please feel free to claim your five pounds.

We know that PTI/Sam's lackey has already made copies of all affidavits because of the substantial voter fraud committed in districts C and D by certain fraternities.

It is highly unlikely that O&B will ignore this so we cannot allow Cavataro to keep his seat.

Naadira is very fond of Jamel.

Anonymous said...

Jamal lost because his people didn't come out to vote. Same goes to the others in the AA community who lost seats.
O&B did a fine job without the AA community...don't think it would benefit O&B to reach to the AA community. They couldn't get 5 of there ppl elected. Were they too good to come out and vote?

That whole thing with the D & C thing is bull shit. Look at Gator Party slate of candidates for D &C. I don't think two candidates out of all 21 are even in a housed fraternity. The whole thing is debunked.

Even if people did changer their address illegally, that should fall on THAT person, not the candidates.

Cavataro should just disapear in to the GDI shit hole he came from. The dork cheated and broke election laws he doesn't have the character to serve the students.

Civility, despite what you may think Christian, is not a bad thing. If there is a so-called deal to have a less political senate, wouldn't that mean the revoultion worked? What is the revolt for anyways, if they keep fighting and do nothing? Oh yeah - that would mean it is a riot and not a revolt. You see, a revolution ends in a change of power, that allows a new voice to emerge. A riot just creates a mess and ultimately leaves the status quo. If there can be accord, then the revolution achieved its result: voice for the GDIs.

Quit fighting just to fight. It is hurting our cause Christian.

Christian Duque said...

Both Ken Kerns & myself oppose this deal. "Your cause" has nothing to do with any restraint in chambers. You were elected on a platform of change and you are now willing to curb that change for a senate seat?

No. I will turn on O&B as hard as I attack Gator - if not, harder.

I will be the outcast blog again, but I will not pretend that O&B selling out the students is any different than what Gator does.

We are independents. Our legacy is too rich to taint it. I don't think O&B (per majority) will stand for this. If somehow they do...expect factions in Spring. It will be Spring '05 all over again.

I can't even believe I'm writing this. O&B scored huge gains and should be fighting the bullshit charges on Cavatero and pushing for Reilly's removal. Instead, they are allegedly up for 18hrs perfecting the details of a horrible deal.

1 stinkin senate seat for the overall direction on an entire party, or 'movement' as you say.

I'm sorry friend, movements are based on people, not person.

Jamel is that kid that got annihilated the other day.

Anonymous said...

This "deal" is not what you think it is.

When O&B first broke into Senate in the Spring, they were originally rather calm. Sure Sam was bitching about online voting, but they were reasonable (even voted for Kellie to be Senate President). It wasn't until R&A refused to put any of them on committees that they got hostile.

The deal is essentially agreeing that we'll give them a fair shake if they aren't assholes every Tuesday.

Anonymous said...

you have a lineup of like 8 q and a's going right now. you might want to take care of that before jamel or ossip

That's right, I try to get along with everyone in public :-). There is only one person on campus that don't consider a good person and that person shall remain nameless.

There is no evidence against Cavataro. The big problem is our 700 codes are overkill and need to be rewritten.

Because Student Government is funded by students’ Activity & Service Fees and not the state, it is not subject to Sunshine laws, said Alexis Lambert, Sunshine Law attorney for the Office of the Attorney General. However, SG agrees to operate under the Sunshine laws in Chapter 102 of the Student Body Statutes.

Alexis Lambert, Florida Blue Key member...how deep will this go?

aron weingard is going to be florida blue key president.

The deal has been signed, get over it Christian.

3:04 pm- Have you ever met Ben Cavataro? He's probably one of the most upstanding members of senate. You're probably a Gator party candidate blowing steam because you lost. Get a life and clean out your mouth.

Christian, the O&B kids are playing the Greeks like a violin and you're dumping on them? If you were on the ground you'd know why Sam walks around these days with a Cheshire grin. He's probably the most powerful person in SG right now. Literally everyone who wants to do anything is calling/texting him asking him for parlay. He showed me his cell phone and Facebook message list tonight and it's everyone from frats to sororities to orgs to Gator Party top brass both incoming and outgoing.

Unlike Tommy, David, and the other previous indie leaders, Sam's managed to not only win, but convince everyone that this is not a one-time event for the indies. A campus-wide realignment is going on right now and if he pulls it off he may prove the indies CAN win the SG Exec without online voting and without compromising core principles either. The thing he still won't tell anyone though is if he's doing this for himself or if he's lining up a proxy for the big race.

Weingard is not active in FBK this semester. The next president is supposed to be Steve Brotman, current treasurer of FBK.

Dear Christian,

O&B is about winning.

It is a POLITICAL party.

They are about getting as many people into Senate as possible and once in Senate getting voices and votes on the standing committees to get their agenda heard and pushed through.

But first they have to WIN or else they cannot accomplish what they have set out to.

Nobody is selling the Indie farm, not by a long shot. O&B are on the verge of getting the biggest foothold in Senate the GDI movement has ever seen in the history of this university and you're crying foul because they managed to do this and at the same time get Ben Cavataro's head off the chopping block in exchange for some civility in chambers? Since when is having your cake and eating it too grounds for treason? And since when is a little decorum a betrayal of core values?

Last I checked giving something intangible like decorum in exchange for more power and influence was a sweet deal.

Let me reiterate then: this "deal" you keep shitting a brick about is not what you think it is. It's not even a deal, more like an accord.

Kellie failed because she was a spiteful ignorant bitch. She was so blinded by her undying hatred for the opposition party that she ignored and began to let die her own party. Too busy trying to poison O&B's well she let her own begin to dry out.

You know what is amazing about people Chrisitan?

Their ability to reason and to learn. It is what separate us from the animals. Or, at least, it's what separates at lot of today's UFSG politicos from you.

Jordan Johnson is doing nothing more than learning from the mistakes of Kellie. He doesn't want Senate to be a 6 hour circus every Tuesday night, something he knows O&B is more than capable at this juncture of accomplishing.

O&B have earned and deserve seats on committees and JJ knows this and if he wants to maintain any control over the chambers every week he realizes he cannot blackball them from the seats just "because" like red faced Kellie, sonted Goldberger, Miller Genuine Bell, and Kevin "Fuck Douche" Reilly did.

JJ may prove to be a smart tactician. Nothing pours gas on the fires of a movement like a martyr. He seems to know this. So why then should he make a martyr out of Ben Cavataro this week and then various Senators of the O&B party every week thereafter through blocking them from committee seats? These are seats people from his own party cannot even hold onto because they don't even show up. Or, if they do show up they do a horrible job.

JJ is looking to Spring and his run for SBP. Nothing will take some wind out of O&B's sails like *gasp* him actually doing his job and doing it effectively and well.

What are O&B going to put on those campaign signs of theirs then?

"Jordan Johnson and the [Insert New FBK-Backed Party Name Here] Gave Us Adequate Representation on Committees and Was A Decent Guy. Vote Orange and Blue!"

On a less related note (though still tying into the general theme of "you don't get it"), you continue to attempt to pick the brains of people who don't know what is really going on and cannot offer you any real insight. Or, they just flat out don't matter. That is by design partly and your own ignorance mostly. It is rather amusing watching you try to shoot in the dark though with these Q&A's, so, keep at it and good luck, maybe one day you'll actually hit something.

Love,

Somebody-Whose-Name-You-Wish-You-Knew-So-You-Could-Send-Them-A-Q&A-With-No-Teeth

P.S. - Don't worry about Sam fucking things up. He answers to a lot of people who won't let him take a wrong turn. You just don't know their names. I'd give you a hint but it'd give me up.

Anonymous said...

Duque,

you need to calm down and realize as soon as the elections results are certified, they cant kick ben out, regardless...get it?

Sheesh, essentially they are just taking a bet that a minority leader Cavataro will be slightly less of a pain in the ass than Sam or Dictor

Your over-reacting, chill out and wait until some meetings go by to see if they have truly sold out, my money is that they havent

Christian Duque said...

GDI's don't deal with the Machine to be less GDI even for a split second.

Anonymous said...

So what you're saying is, even if it's the right thing to do and only benefits the students body, GDI's who negotiate with The Machine are less than GDI in your eyes? My goodness. No wonder you're shopping for a new party to tout. May I suggest you yourself run?

Christian Duque said...

I already did that -- Voice Party 2005.

However dear friend...who says what O&B Exec did was the "right thing" anyway?

I know they don't have the backing of their supporters, if they did, you wouldn't have had over 10,000 race to the polls in a Fall election.

Anonymous said...

ah yes...Voice, how did that go again? how many seats? oh wait, thats right, 3 non greek parties = EPIC FAIL

lol we are getting to keep Cavataro as essentially a gift in hopes we wont be complete dicks....

Just wait until after tonight, after the results are done and cant be undone...heh

Christian Duque said...

Heh?

I'd have more respect for Gator if that's what you planned. Then your word would be no good to the students or to the machine. Essentially you'd make for a new term: "The Coatless."

Anonymous said...

It's pretty hilarious to read shrill O&Bers try to justify their actions and GDI cred now that they've managed to piss off their vaunted patron-Saint Christian.

Grow the hell up and start ignoring this shit, O&B. All of you are smarter than having to justify anything on this blog.

You really haven't the slightest idea of what's going on anymore, Duque.

Christian Duque said...

I'm glad I don't. I really had hoped Tommy would have been there for these kids. They don't realize it now, but they will fail miserably in Spring.

I just feel bad for some of these newly elected senators under the O&B flag. I mean they REALLY believed and even before going into chambers, they're party sold out.

Every O&B supporter now gets to wear a sell-out shirt. And that Ben Cavatero... what a little girl.

You were already a senator! You should have taken the injustice and made it worth its weight in gold to O&B.

I'm not discussing SG again till Spring, if there's even a GDI party by then. I'm already speaking to a couple of people...perhaps there will be a 3rd party in Spring, perhaps not.

TR will move in another direction for the following months.

For the love of God, this is insane.

What happens now:
KLD: The motion to put random tool X on important committee Y has been made and seconded, all those in favor ...
O&B Senators: That's fucking ridiculous.

What Christian imagines happening:
JJ: The motion to put random tool X on important committee Y has been made and seconded, all those in favor ...
O&B Senators: Aye

What's going to happen:
JJ: The motion to put actually competent and deserving people for once on important committee Y has been made and seconded, all those in favor ...
Everyone: Aye

"I really had hoped Tommy would have been there for these kids. They don't realize it now, but they will fail miserably in Spring."

If O&B wants to experience some EPIC FAIL they'll put Tommy in charge in the Spring. The kid is utterly and totally worthless.

They all have his number and there's a reason it hardly ever gets called. Did that ever cross your mind? Of course not, because you view Tommy through not rose tinted glasses, but glasses that have the lenses blacked out.

Looks like you loose again. Just give up, you will never win. Its not the money or numbers its just that the greeks are smarter and care more then you all.

Jamel was a loose cannon. He needs to realize there's a who's who in nphc and he ain't in it.
