Compromise Possible, Though Unlikely

There's two factions, the Progs & the Officials.
The Progs seem resolute: Dictor & Statement on GMGo.
The Officials are comprised of Hardliners & Pragmatists.
The Hardliners have taken up 'Defeatism;' the Prags - hope.
Rumor has it Armando Grundy is donating $1,000 to the Officials...
Rumor running that Joe Trimboli went log jamming w/...

Stay tuned for more.

Christian, what is that image meant to convey?

Actually there are two parties, not two factions

No. There are two factions.

I've tried to not get too involved in commentary on this ongoing saga, but I remain utterly amazed at how intractable this factionalism among the GDI's has been.

I think it's great that there are two strong candidates who want the GDI nomination, and want it so strongly in part because they believe O&B has a shot this year at beating Jordan Johnson's facelifted Gator/Unite party.

But let's be realistic - the only way either GDI candidate will win an Exec spot (and/or help the party win Senate seats) is if this nomination dispute is resolved.

Why can't one candidate take President and the other Treasurer?

It's really that simple. The jobs, assuming either or both win, are prestigious and hold veto power within SG. In campaigning, they have the virtue of being separately elected even though in the same ticket.

Historically, there's just not much of a chance of any GDI winning in any given year. So fighting over who gets to lose to Jordan Johnson isn't the right way to go about it. You guys should be looking at how to build a strong ticket.

I think both factions need each other, and both should have representatives on the ticket.

Unite to defeat the Unite Party.

Please.

Classy post Ken. :)

There are two parties El Duque, get your facts straight. Dictor refuses to compromise and keeps waiving this made-up story in everyone's face.

your rumors are very bad information it must be some bad Zionist intelligence report. Where did any mention of $1000 come from? Do not fall into the same trap our soon to be former President "Dubya" did with his intelligence on Iraq. Your "rumors" are just that rumors. That is unless your just sensationalizing things as your accustomed to. Also can you please explain why you call them factions and not groups as they are indeed two parties. El Duque why is it that you changed your tune as you promised you would when Dictor quit and started a third party. Your words were " I will support McShera" was that an empty promise? Was it complete nonsense? I thought you liked Mark McShera, has something changed? Please let us all know El Duque

mcshera won the nomination, if dictor wants to come back and run as treasurer, he has my number

Ken. You act like Josh and Dictor do not know that. Do you really think Ryam Day and Josh would try to win with an independent?

Once a sell out always a sell out.

Christian... I think its interesting that after all this time of you calling them the Progressives... they decide to use the name Progress.

Christian Duque is secretly undermining the indie movement at UF!

I believe if Dictor runs with Progress he has a chance of beating Unite.

3:25 is Peter Laumann (who has yet to understand politics) and I claim my 5 pounds.

Laumann understand politics? Don't be ridic, that boy doesn't even understand women. He flaunted his position of authority within Gators For Obama like a peacock flaunts his feathers, and he still ended up with a girl who graduated from high school in 2008. Cradle robber!

McShera tried to sell out to Goldberger and was denied. Of course, no one will ever believe it. It's a fun bit of information to have, though.

It's rumored Justin Wooten was seen conversing with "Toto" outside the Hipp. Wooten jumped (or...was thrown) into a trash can.

Dictor is a nut, surrounded by nuts.

Christian Duque said...

Whoever this is...you're psychotic. I've erased 3 similar messages by you in the five mintues I've been sitting here.

What is your obssession with Justin Wooten?

Justin Wooten said...

Toto for Student Body Treasurer!

Goldberger attempted to lure McShera with an offer of being Johnson's VP and McShera laughed at him and said see you on election night.

Anonymous said...

(10:49) No one will ever believe it because Mark reported Goldberger's approach to O&B's leadership, including Dictor, so Justin's claims are ass believable as Dictor's about Joe and Huey.

Cain Norris was once again rejected for a replacement seat for CLAS by R&A on Sunday night. Who got it instead? None other than Scott Cutshall. On Tuesday night O&B opened the floor for nominations for the position and tried to put Cain up. Guess who didn't vote for Cain? That's right, the United Gator Party and.... are you ready? Ben Dictor and his supporters in the senate!

That's right Christian, your precious Dictor is nothing more than a bitter child who's campaign is not founded on principles or ideals but on trying to spite the O&B Party out of pure bitterness. Whether that means running a third party or voting against qualified candidates for Senate replacement sets based solely on the fact that they are known O&B Supporters (the only criteria the United Gator Party uses to decided who to vote for).

Christian Duque, you and Oprah now have something in common. Now, I'm just curious to see if you can be as classy a bitch as Oprah when she gets duped.

Justin Wooten said...

Dictor voted for Scott Cutshall because he is a good guy that votes his conscience, is critical of the administration and has worked hard for CLAS, especially fighting against the cuts to the Asian Languages department. There is no reason to oppose him, unlike some of the other choices they have recently offered up, which Dictor did vote with O&B against.

The problem with a lot of O&B is that they are anti-Gator to a fault. They don't realize that yes, sometimes good, reasonable people end up getting involved with the Gator party. Cutshall is not a hack that the Gator leadership can control, and to oppose his nomination when you know you're going to lose anyway is counter-productive. You just push him that much further into Gator's camp when you do stuff like that. It's a waste of political capital, and you end up looking like whiners.

And while we're out it, how come you guys failed to discuss the rest of the appointments? Why open up the nominations for only Cain, who no one on their side likes, but not open up the nominations for Steiger? If anyone stabbed their own people in the back on the nomination process, if was O&B.

I see that Harry Reid is the Progress Party's new strategy consultant. Senate Republicans are heartbroken over the loss of their best ally.
