Final Election Thoughts

The Progress Party (first endorsed by TheRadikal.com and later by the Independent Florida Alligator) must live on. While Orange & Blue remains a viable independent party, the real GDI's are in the Progress Party. Unaware of any election results, I believe the only person that can be to Progress what Sam Miorelli was to Orange & Blue - or what James Argento was to Access -- or what Ken Kerns was to Voice - is Justin Wooten.

This incarnation of Progress means something. SG can finally move in a honorable direction, educating the students about worldly affairs, organizing grassroots campaigns for true sustainability (not just dropping a plastic recycle bin outside some random classroom in Turlington. History shows us that the students are the ones that pushed for civil rights, suffrage, gay rights, the students helped end wars, but here at UF, the students are relegated to bullshit roles in a government that's carefully monitored by the UF Administration and infected with legacies and good ole boy systems.

Whatever the results may be, the only party that was truly about real, in-your-face change: was Progress and this party should not 'marry' O&B or sail off into oblivion. Progress should be alive and well in 2009, with Dave Schneider as its presidential candidate in 2010.

In the coming weeks I hope to look into the Keg Party and study how O&B chose to milk the name of a heroic party, we'll also look at the threatened ***complaint*** [correction] from Elizabeth Stinson against our dear Ben Dictor. Once again, major kudos to Mark McShera for a kickass, LIVE Q&A. This blog may have endorsed Progress, but the Dictor Q&A, much like the Bracco one, was a snoozer. Then again the interviews took place at different times...Ben was trying to gain support and by the time we got to Mark the lines in the sand had not been drawn, but were actively being held, defended, w/e.

Jordan Johnson was smart to extend a hand to Wooten- he's the future of the Independent movement. It's not Ben Cavatero in 2010, it's not Donte Hargrove, it's not TH allegedly redbaiting... interesting.

Well anyways the law library is closing soon. I heard Brandon White didn't campaign much - heard this from both Indie factions...that's mildly pathetic.

So anyways, best of luck to Ben, Mark, Justin, Joe, the Geico spokesman, Liz, Dave, Joe Bennett (don't pull an Eric Gordon....come back to SG), Sam, Crazy-But-Cool MT, Alleged Redbaiter TH, Alan, Gary, Stacey, Grasshopper, Bracco (stop [allegedly] calling Justin an FBI Agent), and everyone else.

Charlie Grapski, glad you're out, thanks for letting me know, you to Michael. I brought Progress to your side, when no one knew who you were, but doin that for ya since 2005, but no sweat. Try to stay out of jail, will always support you in one way or another, but stay out of trouble - if you can, lol.

Best of luck to Mark and Ben, seriously. Jordan Johnson, good luck to you too. Keg...jump off a cliff.

Results were interesting. O&B and Progress killed each other in Senate (together they would have pulled CLAS and Engineering both, probably with some other seats too).

Progress won 8. O&B 0. Progress is dead as of tonight, though. O&B will live on. Fuck TheBenDictor Itself. If It ever tries to run for public office, It better watch Its back, It is DONE!

Okay, yeah, he's the System candidate, but whatever, here's all the hopes that Jordan Johnson will be a Student Body President in the mold of Ryan Moseley, with a confidante like JCB and the political capital to say fuck you to Florida Blue Key every now and then to build some bridges with the newly elected independent Senators.

All we can do is hope at this point, but it could happen...

haha, im glad i finally earned a place on the radikal, and by now you all know who this is.

i am glad i lost this election, partly because oh what it has taught me. i maintain that i never said anything that was not first told to me directly, either by people themselves or a third party i deemed trustworthy. i strive to always tell the truth, and invite people to always call me on it when dont. i have already apologized to the people that i needed to apologize to, and i've also realized how much of a joke things in life can be, especially when taken too seriously.

im not so sure sg is in my cards, i will no doubt help people i agree with be elected. but i've learned, as, yes as a naive freshman, im glad to have that experience.

one more thing, the radikal, really? it seems like its sole purpose is to stir up hatred and animosities. i've learned my lesson from taking myself too seriously, and to all the people i offended, i apologize too. we will all need to work together in the future.

congrats to progress for their new senators, you guys worked harder than o and b. but if i learned one thing in this campaign, it's that a house divided against itself cannot stand, so let's start gluing

O&B is nothing without the Gainesville Left.

SDS calls Wooten an FBI agent not Bracco. Wooten isn't even a student

My response to the elections:

It's well worth a read - at the least, I've revamped my website design and would love feedback! :-)

Oh, but everyone in SDS says non-student Wooten IS an FBI agent, so it must be true :rolls eyes:

The Indies would have won maybe 20 seats or so if they weren't split.

Ben Dictor has spoiled it all on his ego trip.

Ben Dictor's status messages were creepy and amounted to sexual harassment. His membership in pro choice groups doesn't excuse his conduct anymore than NAACP membership excuses white males from making racist comments. If he doesn't like having sexual harassment complaints filed against him with the Dean of Students office then he should just stop making overtly sexual comments about girls he hates.

Bitching to you does nothing.

Being the idiot he is. Brandon White thought O&B would have a substantial voting base and that he would eat up AA support.

What fantasy world is he living in? When the indies split themselves, and the entire AA leadership is against you, what can you do?

Brandon did campaign, very much so. But his ego and delusional mind blinded good logic.

"Keg...jump off a cliff."

That's not very nice. Frank Walch is actually much smarter and would make a much better SBP than Ben Dictor would.

Sexual harassment complaint? Law schools will rescind an offers of admission when the school reports it to LSAC.

sue him? he sexually harrassed her and she wanted to file a complaint against him at the Dean of Students office, not sue him. Fortunately for Ben there isn't a law against being a total douche.

I know for a fact Bracco called me an FBI agent, as one of our guys overheard him talking to Sam Miorelli about it. I guess he might still be steamed about me calling him a "fucking weasel" the other day, when he was pretending to give a shit about our photo-shopped picture with Obama and Lil Wayne and yelling in Turlington about breaking the law.

Whatever. I already explained my situation in a comment on the other post, so I don't feel the need to do it again. What I do have to say is that it doesn't appear to me that any unity is going to be possible while people still find it necessary to cowardly slander people behind their back. I'm not gonna work with anonymous cowards who seem hell bent on causing strife. To be perfectly honest, if it wasn't for some of the bullshit said on this blog by various anonymous cowards, there might have never been a split to begin with. And I'm talking specifically about people like Liz Stinson, Will Foster, Alan Yanuck, Gary Benedix, etc. For those of you in the O&B still extremely pissed about the split, you should look less at Dictor and more at these people.

I'm not aware of anyone in SDS calling me an FBI agent, and I'm almost positive none of them post anonymously here, as most of them don't give a shit about SG politics. Frankly, there has been a split in SDS, and all of the "Old Guard" stopped attending long ago anyway because of various personal reasons, most of which I'm not fully aware of. Skeet is still trying to get me involved with the organization, even though I kind of don't want to be affiliated with it anymore. However, both Skeet and I were inspired by the success story of someone at the SDS Regional Convention, and if SDS starts going in that direction, I would be more than happy to continue my involvement in SDS.

Go UNITE!

Umm dude, people in your own party call you an FBI agent. I wouldn't know you well enough to call you an FBI agent until people like Peter, Chuck, Dictor, and Joe Richard told me. Clearly you haven't gotten the memo from your friends and organizational members.

francisco said...

Oh, and Wooten, I don't hold grudges (unless you are Keith Hardwick that is), SG is too funny to be something to take that seriously to the point where you would hold something in SG personally against them.

Wow. The indy split doesn't look healed, does it.

1. Frank is a liar. I know for a fact he was calling me an FBI agent to Miorelli.

2. I saw this message at Dictor's apartment, so you also apparently have no qualms lying about who said this about me.

3. I am moving into Joe Richard's apartment right now. I already moved my bed and computer desk in. You think Joe Richard is the type of guy to ask an FBI agent to move in with him?

You're a pathetic liar, Frank. A real scumbag lying piece of garbage.

No the indie split is not healed nor will it ever be healed. Sam Miorelli and his tight-knit group of followers (see: cabal) will never concede to Ben Dictor and his successors. The only difference is that by the time Fall 09 elections come around, these individuals won't have more than 10 people as all of the reasonable members of the Spring 09 Orange and Blue Party will have already made amends with the Spring 09 Progress Party members.

Justin, it is too bad you have friends that won't tell you the truth. They all stated it several times before I ever dared to repeat it. Pretty sad to tell you the truth: Dictor had said you were an FBI agent it several times back in the Fall; Chuck told me it when we were sitting on the wall the week before the elections talking about how much Unite was going to win by; Joe Richards told me once or twice when I was joking with Josh; and Peter told me when I was carrying around the water hose and tarps. Although I don't remember ever telling Sam anything about you being an FBI agent, I did tell Gary it thinking it was quite funny.

I still think it is quite funny, and the only thing is that is funnier is how aggravated you are by it. In the words of Josh Simmons way back in the day, "Me thinks the good gentleman protests too much".

I seriously doubt Wacko Bracco gives a flying fuck about you Wooten he is too busy passing out I voted stickers
