Vote Against All "GDI's" Applying To FBK

To think of all the people I know that have joined FBK after working themselves to death in the Indie movement...if I start thinking up all the names, it truly makes me want to gag. I don't hate FBK, I hate betrayal. That's not even to say I hate the traitors themselves, but in all seriousness, I hate the things some people will do just to fit in. Some say Andrew has applied, I don't know that for a fact and I think him applying would be more a joke than anything else. If he joined FBK I would be pretty bummed out. If Becca. joined, I wouldn't be too surprised. Bruce Haupt applied too? Again not sure, but that would suck as well.

You know the one thing I dislike more than traitors applying for Blue Key? It's traitors that apply, don't get-in, and then spend the rest of their lives trying to convince TRUE GDI's that it was all a big joke, a big "FUCK YOU" to FBK, and that they were really always true to the cause, true to the GDI Movement. THEN, these same people, the ones that have chosen to line their pockets with whatever cred they can drain out of the devastating losses of Indie parties since the Fall of Access, come back with their tails between their legs and beg and beg and beg to return to the exec. fold of Indie political parties, hoping, watering-at-the-mouth at the prospect of sabotaging YOUR party to gain a little more leverage and re-apply the following year. To some kids, joining FBK is the apex of a Student Leadership Career; some students will go so far as to apply for a masters degree just for a couple more chances. Think I'm kidding? Not so.

Those of you that are Keys that read my blog (love me or hate me, please vote against any and all "GDI's" that come your way. Yes, you might be thinking "they sold out the Indies for us" and yes that might be a plus, however, they did sell out a group of people that accepted them and gave them power & praise to join a 'better' group....surely FBK wants people that respect the organization on board, but what does a traitor know about respect in the first place? They burned us, do you really want to invest in a candidate that might burn you for something 'better' down the road? Up until now FBK has been associated with words like "elitist" and "secret." Hopefully the word "whores" won't be added to the roster.

The Religious Zealots Debate

Two great letters have been printed by the Alligator. This round of Religious Zealot Debate started with Fei Long's almost paid-advertisement'esque letter to the Alligator praising Krishna lunch. Sen. Long wrote a letter that stated: "they've [Krishnas] done a good job by providing clean*, delicious* and affordable* vegetarian food to students*.

*Clean? - The Krishnas aren't under the Board of Health, they cook meals at a house. Do you know if they wear hear-nets? Do you know if they wash their hands? Do you know if the bald dude that peddles the RELIGIOUS Krishna books at Turlington (who's very nice but as much a preacher - albeit more discreet - than Bible Man?) didn't wipe the sweat off his head with the piece of pita you just used to wipe off the last of that mystery green gravvy off your plate? NO, YOU DON'T. So.....you really don't know if the food is CLEAN now do you? That's FALSE ADVERTISING FEI LONG! (j/k but true)

*Delicious? - Emiliano's in downtown is Delicious. Maude's Vegan Carrot cake is delicious. My girlfriend, the point I'm trying to make here is that "delicious" is your opinion. When I did the SFA 5-day Hunger Fast (May '04) and came off the fifth day, I was about to pass out. I had a taste of one of those meals and I believe it tasted bland and needed some salt. If I went five days living on water and Marlboro Milds and the first taste of food tasted bland...that food was hardly delicious. But your opinion is your own.

*Affordable? - If you think $3 is affordable for a dinner, buddy, you been dining at St. Francis House & the Salvation Army for far too long (LOL). Krishna lunch used to be donation-based and for everyone. I still remember hearing when my friend Peter Gruskin told me about an incident that involved him and a homeless friend named Mike. Mike was denied food (against the Krishna faith) because he didn't have money. While you claim it's affordable, I claim it's illegal. They are a religious group, if you know anything about Krishna or their very warped interpretations of the Bhagavad Gita you would know that the meal you are eating is a COMMUNION and that the first plate of food that you see sitting on table isn't a mere display item, but for Krishna. If you think I'm wrong, ask them. If you're too cheap to go to Wendy's that's fine, but don't bash the psychotic Christian preacher for preaching when you're standing IN-A-LONG-ASS-LINE for their equally psychotic holy-Krishna-value-meals.

Still Waiting For Sen. J. Clayton Brett's 2-3 page promised response

POST 111

The Treasurer Leads The Senate President
Winning in the Spring isn't just about whom can buddy up to the SBP most or get the FBK nod, but a good amount of the win involves PR. Yesssss.....'the average students don't vote,' Yessssssss, 'the power is with the Greeks & FBK," but, PR is still key. If your name is known it helps with the powers that be on the mainstream side. Moseley has not only been noticed by the whackjobs at the Alligator, but they pointed him out, they pointed him out and made sure to sink Boyles in the process. Some 20-to-30 thousand students (at MINIMUM) read that title, many prolly read the article. Moseley's actions are HUGE, they will be felt by any UF student looking to go to a professional school, they will save Gators money. To be honest...he couldn't have bought this kind of PR, at right before Winter break....when the Keys and the Greeks are about to decide who to support? Fuckin genious.

You dare insult the word of Fei Long (Peace Be With Him)? If Fei says it is so, then it is so.

Anonymous said...

It's funny to read your lawyerspeak.

You should try going to law school.

Anonymous said...

Do you feel Moseley's PR blitz will land him the latitude needed from Greeks/FBK in order to snag the position? What are the chances of John passing the crown to him over Weiss at this point in the game if you could garner a guess?

Anonymous said...

John has little to no sway with whom his successor shall be.

Anonymous said...

why do you color Mosely Blue and Yellow? Fall Access was sell out Greeks. Not the same as Spring Access. Sig Ep was Inovate all the way.

Christian Duque said...

Let's talk (vegan) Turkey shall we.

A-1. I didn't insult Fei Long. Sen. Long is a great leader, but wrote a silly letter to the Alligator and I just wanted to opine. Who the fuck says "opine?" IDK...but it is a WORD!

A-2. I need to retake the lsat to get into at least a Tier 2/3 School otherwise I just won't go. Also teaching right now and being a friggin Marxist doesn't help, I want to help kids and change society. Deep down I want law school too, so in time.

A-3. I don't know about "latitude" (who talks like that?), "but umm......" (LOL [inside joke]), I think Moseley will take it. I think AEPi will get the shock of their lives as they get ready to go to Winter Break.

As much as I love Tommy & the Indie leaders...I'm betting they'll bust out the kneepads and court Josh to the Indie side. Personaly FBK would be stupid not to run Moseley...what little I know about this kid, he'd bury Weiss at the polls, not even a real race to be honest with you.

A-4. We all know this inaccurate. John has a great deal of power, not just as SBP but also in FBK-cred. They like him and respect him, if John said Moseley or if John said Weiss...do you mean to tell me and my blog audience that that "would have little to no sway" with FBK?

Thanks for your readership and for posting. No such thing as a bad comment, but get real.

A-5. Correction dear chap. I used yellow & blue to cover over John Boyles in that photo...because I try to omit Boyles from my blog as much as possible. He was never one of us, never.

Christian Duque said...

p.s.

That prostitute is kinda hot.

Anonymous said...

I agree with Anon 10:47 Boyles' opinion is practically meaningless.

Anonymous said...

Christian didn't your mentor Argento, the guy you mention 30 times on your blog who no one else knows, apply for FBK and was rejected?

Anonymous said...

I never meant that John had nearly enough sway to get one or the other elected singlehandedly. My question dealt with who would he publicly support (if even either in order not to cause hard feelings...)

Anonymous said...

Argento went up and so did Hoffman. Hoffman was on the rec list but got "hit" in the tapping room. Dipesh Patel is also going up this time with Becca, Bruce, and some other gid's.

old school said...

Hey this is Argento. I never applied for FBK, never wanted to, even though a ton of my friends were in FBK. Just wanted to clarify. I guess you can ask me all you want in this "GREAT INTERVIEW" Christian keeps hyping.

Now i am going to go watch the FSU homecoming parade right outside my apartment. In addition, Pow Wow is tonight with Steven Colbert, and it is sold out. This is my first Pow Wow. I guess Gator Growl didn't have as good an act this year.

Anonymous said...

Gator Growl kicked ass this year James. Gaffigan was awesome and Iglesias was a great warmup. Colbert will suck live. He's too scared to be infront of 40k in a massive football stadium so instead he settled for 7k in a second rate basketball stadium.

Anonymous said...

The real story behind the Mose-Weiss race is who is behind the campaign's in the first place. John Clay Brett is running Moseley's, and Evan Tyroler is running Weiss's. JCB is untapped and halfway into his Junior year. Tyroler is an fbk vet and former Accent Chair.

This looks like a David vs. Goliath matchup, which is why I think that it will be a miracle if Moseley wins, despite the good PR he gets from the Alligator. I just don't think that Brett has what it takes to beat AEPi.

Anonymous said...

Most of you are still classifying Bruce as a GDI. I don't see how you can even place him in that category. Yeah, he's not mainstream in the sense of a categorized party, but you don't see him seeking alliances with anything even remotely close to another party like Action or Impact. As of now, he's still doing his own thing for awhile.

Christian Duque said...

When I first met him he struck me as an Indie. It was back when I started meeting people at parties that read my blog and even mentioned random posts in conversation -- at this point I wasn't aware that a huge chunk of my readers were actually mainstreamers, go figure.

The next time I spoke with him was during slating and I went out to get some signatures for him to appear on the ballot. We later did a Q&A and recently I ran into him at the law fair where we spoke for about fifteen minutes about a possible Spring run and some other issues at hand. It was here that I pushed for the idea of him talking to Lauren Mierley.

I think Bruce is definitely part of a rare breed at UF and that he's an Independent...whether the Indie-image is genuine or not -- this is something I'm beginning to wonder about. There are some serious inconsistencies between what Bruce has told me privately and in Q&A and these rumors that he's applied to FBK.

FBK is not evil, at least that is NOT what I am trying to imply here. However, a true GDI would never apply to join that organization. If you're a GDI you're a GDI. If your life's goal is to be one of the chosen few of FBK then you are a Key, or what I sometimes call a mainstreamer.

Pick your sides, make your stand, fight, win, lose, cry, laugh, or become apathetic to the system we know as Student Government -- but don't be a traitor.

When I won my seat with Access...Scott & the Innovate kids offered me an orange shirt, they said, "you're one of us and you know it," (because I was a FIJI and they wanted me to help bury Jamal...I could have been in FBK had I done that, I know it and on good account...a rogue Access senator splitting the party he help win, help ruin the revolution, help stop Jamal, but I didn't do that shit, I was YELLOW & BLUE and I don't regret my decision one bit.

In this life, we are judged by our decisions. My conscience is clear.

If Becca & Bruce and any half-hearted GDI did in fact apply, then I hope they get in. This way at least we won't have phonies pretending to be one of us. But then on the other hand, nice people like Chris Carmody will be stuck with whores in their organization.

Traitors, it's my opinion, don't belong with GDI's and they don't belong in FBK. Traitors are scum.

Anonymous said...

Christian,

I ask you what is a "GDI"? Does it mean not going greek, because you are Greek. Does it mean not mean part of the system? Because like it or not you were part of the system. Stop acting holy than thou. You were in Senate once, you could have made the changes you speak of. Instead you were crude and vulgar and unwilling to work with anyone, even your own party members.

Florida Blue Key is one of the most prestigious organizations. If you really thought it was so dirty for people to apply then you wouldn't bring how you could have had the chance to get in.

You don't know any of the people you speak about. Meeting people in passing or working with them once, does not qualify you to make judgments. The way I see it, if they have the resume and the points they should get in.

You still adore Jamal so much. Well he was greek and a Key! Surprise! Maybe you need to rethink what it means to be a "GDI"...

Christian Duque said...

Big words for a person that hides their name. Big words indeed. LOL

First of all, I did in fact work with my fellow party-members when it was in the best interests of the general student body. Was I vulgar? I don't think "vulgar" is a fitting term. It was a rough time to be a GDI, unless you were in my shoes you really have no idea what kind of stresses I was under or what was going on at the time. The only other person in my shoes and even remotely facing the same things I was, was Ricky Caplin and maybe Peter to some extent (but he lost his race and we won ours).

I do know that when I left senate, everyone had very nice things to say to me and when I gave my farewell speech, I received a roaring applause as well as when I gave my extensive rebuttal to Mike Bowens slanderous speech against me,, naturally he never heard it because once he slandered me, he left chambers.

Me, holier than thou? HA! I have always said that FBK is prestigious and exalted, being a GDI is anything BUT "holier than thou" (but I bet you been dyin to use that in a sentence since you first heard it, sadly it doesn't fit here, LMAO); we are the OPPRESSED. However being oppressed and part of the ultra-minority, I want to know who I'm standing next to, and if it's next to turncoats I want that stated for the record what I think of them.

Finally, if you base being a GDI soley on being Greek or NOT, then you my dear heckler have just shared with us just how much insight you have into SG -- and it ain't much buddy. :)

Please keep posting, hating, & coming back :)

p.s.
Jamal was an incredible SBP, even if certain officers of his had their priorities mixed up. I could not have asked for a better leader to follow than in the Spring 2004.

Thanks again for your post. I don't know what I would do w/o hateful trolls such as yourself:)

It's the eve of Tapping, and all of the applicants are nervously awaiting their fates! How makes it this fall?

Anonymous said...

Any idea on the possible numbers they'll be taking in this year or what some of the scores were based on?

Anonymous said...

Christian,

If you hate turn-coats and traitors so much, then why do you praise Ryan Nelson? What about Diane Kassim? At least Diane left Dennis before qualifying ended, but Ryan Nelson betrayed a campaign in which he had been in the room training candidates! You want to talk about traitors? Those tow take the cake! I'm not sure how you feel about Diane, but I've read your interview and subsequent comments about Ryan. I don't see your comments as being consistent about these things.

Christian Duque said...

Whoever you are, please, please, please email me. You're right! 110% on the money and you've made me realize a bias of mine. Funny, how when the GDI's gain I'm not quite so irate, but you are correct, 110%.

I guess in a way it hurts more when the traitors are from your own camp. I remember us going against the odds and I remember the way some people talked, so idealistic...never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that less than three years into the future they would sell us out like that.

In his defense, if Andrew did apply, Andrew would help change FBK, he would be one of the positive Indie-figures-gone-FBK. Those other names mentioned, they're just bureaucrats. But Becca Guerra...I still remember us being the only two senators to oppose Glen Wegel's pro-war bill, I remember that we never got along but I was always very impressed by her political activism...to see her in FBK seems, idk, it just seems wrong.

FBK is great for those whom want to rise to the top of the mainstream game, I AM NOT PUTTING IT DOWN, but for someone that rose through the ranks of Indie politics, for anyone that had the average kids, the loners, the downtrodden's support....to have had that trust...to use it today as some form of currency to turn-coat and laugh 'n toast to future's paid for by the heart & souls of countless students that fought for a different kind of SG, that drenched in the rain passed out flyers so wet the ink had already begun to run, for all the students whose GPA's went to shit, who suffered socially, who wrote letters, who BELIEVED in our INDIE parties (Access, Impact, Voice, Progress, Unite, Action) for any of you that were part of any of these, to cross us, to use the sweat and tears of failed elections to get into an organization that is the face of the majority, the majority that has kept us down and kept us powerless, to you I say

FUCK YOU! & GOOD RIDDANCE!

Christian Duque said...

p.s.

But please continue visiting my blog of course ;) Hey, a hit is a hit. LMAO

Anonymous said...

I can't blame Diane leaving Dennis because his campaign was just run badly. Guerra was apart of that fuck up and for that she does not deserve FBK.

I don't know about all the scores but I think they will take a large tapping class cuz there are lots of folk to be rewarded from the campaign.

Anonymous said...

I don't think it was dennis's campaign being run badly. Its that they wanted their own deal, and Joe would give it to them. But in the end who came out better. Joe, who got to be student body president, or Dennis who got to work for the governor with that fellowship? Some people on this blog may think president, but I think working for the governor is a much bigger oppertunity.

Anonymous said...

You should really have a blog about what exactly is a GDI. Perhaps you can have levels of GDI. Currently, the FBK President and SB President are "independents," but I bet you would not call them GDIs. Jared Hernandez was a party loyalist for years and former IFC president. Then he decides to run for president and cannot get Greek support, so he "fights the man." Now, I bet you have called him a GDI in the past. We love your blog, but let's get some definitions out there. First, consistency should be a factor. If that is the case, only one of three peeps referenced above have consistently said the same thing and she happens to run the "evil empire." Shouldn't that count for something?

James Argento could be a Level 5 GDI and Goldberg could be a Level 0 GDI. There, that is our parameters. OK, rank em. Boyles is independent, but you think he sold out, so he is not Level 5. However, most of the indies going up for FBK this semester are b/c Boyles helped them get there, so give the man some credit. He has helped changed the face of who is involved. So, how about Level 3.

Where does Nelson fall? Greek, supports GDI's when it is beneficial to him. How about a Level 2 GDI. Jared? how about Level 3. Jamal is a Level 4 (he was a key afterall). Here is another wrinkle. If you rank folks on their level of GDIness, shouldn't you take into account those that would quickly take a deal to eat at the System's head table.

You know that a few of your loyalists would quickly bolt for a tasty deal. It is natural. Some of them are only GDIs b/c they couldn't get through the system door. Who would they be? Would Jardon split for a nice position on the SG Supreme Court? Looks good on teh resume. He can retire to Supreme Court land. What about Baker? Are we sure he wouldn't give up his roots for a chance to be Lobby Coordinator? I am not accusing these folks, merely pointing out that the right deal could entice them.

Now, what about Mosely and Weiss? One of them will not be the evil empire's choice. Can you rank the runner up with some GDIness since they (like Jared a year ago) will be pandering to the GDIs. Or should we just call it what it is, politics based on convenience.

You claim to appreciate honesty and upfrontness? Then, shouldn't the tougher system folks that honestly tell you that they don't care and will not help GDI's get a GDI vote. At least they don't hide their disdain to nonconformity. They don't lie to your face and act like they care. Lets give all of them Level 2 GDI clearance.

I would like to see these rankings. Please rank them.

The only thing wrong with a GDI scale is it limits the actors to one motivation: personal prestige. What if an individual has an issue that is near and dear to their hearts and their community. Should that person operate as a GDI and piss off everyone in power, or should they work with people to get their goals accomplished? It seems more feasible to work with people who can get something accomplished rather than standing in Turlington and protesting the "Greek-bias" in SG.

On the Recommended List (need 50% + 1 to be tapped)

Becca Guerra- Not Tapped
Bruce Haupt- Not Tapped
Sam Green- Not Tapped

Not Reccomended List (need 2/3 to be tapped)

Nina DeJong- Not Tapped
Danielle Lodge- Not Tapped

Andrew Hoffman went up in the spring and was on the reccomended list. He was not tapped.

So did Sam get tapped on the second round?

No. Not tapped.

Is the final list compiled as of yet, when will all the applicants know for sure when it comes out?

Hey,

Thanks for the update. Please do not be afraid to speak what is on your mind and even reasons why tapping went the way they did.

Andrew: one of the anonymous kept saying you tried out, but I never wrote it as confirmed because I didn't know for sure and didn't really want to find out either. I believe you are one of the best guys from the Old Party. I hope you never try for FBK again.

Becca, Bruce....shameless. Absolutely shameless. The romance with Bruce & the Radikal is hereby over. LOL

Boyles and Weiss stood up and proed Green, Mosely did not.

Joel Witter was on the Not Recommended list and made it. Danielle Lodge had an abysmal and skeletal resume compared to everyone else's.

you mean they blocked him behind the scenes and then acted like they wanted to pro him?

Did any up-and-comers or relatively unknown people to the inner SG circle make it in?

Anonymous said...

people,

you won't get tapped if you don't have someone pulling for you. It is like the real world, you need someone trying to get you in. Pros are only effective if you are on the fence and need a little extra. On the other hand, if you make enemies on personal terms, forget it. You are out. You can't expect to call someone names and then turn around and expect them to let you into their club.

Anonymous said...

Boyles was absolutley working for Green behind the scenes. He is only one vote. His opinion matters, but does not carry the weight of a big house leader.

Anonymous said...

Boyles' opinion has been irrelevant the day after he made his appointments and probaby before that. He is a coward and a sheep. He has absolutely NO pull in the room. He and daddy's money are the only reason he is in FBK.
